It is with great sadness that we announce that the United Way of Western Orleans County has decided to discontinue funding the efforts of the American Red Cross. This affects all community members.
The Red Cross responds to local disasters 24 hours a day, 365 days a year- and all on a volunteer basis. The money we receive from community support helps provide food, clothing and shelter to those affected by disaster. It also allows us to teach community classes such as CPR, Learn to Swim and First Aid. American Red Cross staff and volunteers are not letting the lack of United Way funding deter them from providing needed community services in your area. They are in the process of planning some new, fun and exciting fundraisers. Stay tuned for those announcements as they become available.
