At the end of January, our AmeriCorps VISTA representative, Isaac Figueras, began his Preparedness Education for Spanish Speaking People. The presentation took place at the BOCES Migrant Center in Livingston County. Over all, there were more than 40 Spanish speaking family members at the event. Isaac was able to teach them about emergency preparedness and give out a number of basic supplies to help these families begin building emergency supply kits. This event marked the start of a program that has been prepared over the past months. Now Isaac is beginning to contact other organizations in the WNY Tri County Chapter’s area in order to present these materials to a larger number of people. This is an exciting time for this new program, and if anyone is interested in helping present these materials, please contact us. We always need more Spanish speaking volunteers!
